Instructions:

Choose the artwork you want to print on your poly cotton clothes. A memorable picture of your own is perfect or you can just download a cool image from the internet. Get the image reversed as a mirror image. Remember it has to be a mirror image as when you apply it on your poly cotton garment, people read it in the correct order again.

2
After choosing your favorite image, the next step is to print the image using the iron-on transfer paper. Just put the transfer paper into the paper box of the printer, and this step is as easy and same as printing normal paper.

3
Use the scissors to cut out the image on the transfer paper. Before cutting, you need pay attention to the size you are going to use. Don’t get it too big for the garment you are going to iron on.

4
Meanwhile, put your poly cotton clothes onto the ironing board and get it smooth, especially the area on which you will iron on the image. Use the iron to press it if necessary.

5
Put your image transfer paper on the desired position of the clothes. Face the image down to the clothes.

6
After well pre-heated, use the iron to press the back of the transfer paper. Leave it on for 5 seconds each time. It’s better to put a piece of thin cloth in the between to avoid the transfer paper or the image getting burned by the heat. Then move the iron back and forth a little bit during ironing to make sure the whole image is evenly heated especially the edges.

7
Wait for about 3 minutes and allow the transfer paper to cool. Slowly peel the edge of the transfer to see if the image adheres to the poly cotton garment. If not, repeat Step 6 to ensure the whole image is transferred to the poly cotton garment.

8
Remove the transfer paper from the transferred image gingerly and slowly. And finally, your costom designed iron on transfer poly cotton is ready!

Here from now on, you can learn how to get these Greek letters onto shirts all by yourselves. Take it fun and you’ll get a unique cool Greek lettered shirt for yourself. And who knows, you may be able to earn some money by selling them as well… Come on and get started!

Skill Level:
Moderately complicated

Preparation:
The shirt you want to have Greek letters on
A thin layout Stencil
Ink in the colors that you would like the letters to be
A brush

Instruction:
1. Choose your favorite Greek letters and print these letters. But before printing, save it into an image format, photoshop the image to a reversed version, so that when you apply them to the shirt people will see them in reverse again thus in the right order. Make sure the size of the image is suitable for your shirt.

2. After printing the reversed Greek letters, cut the letters off the paper. Use the paper letters to take a stencil copy and wait them to dry.

3. Use a razor to cut the inside part of the letters to make them hollowed shells. This is the most difficult part of the whole procedure. You need to do it carefully to make sure both the hollowed shells and the cut letters intact.

4. Put the hollowed shells of letters on the shirt. Apply a thick coat of paint using the brush to the exposed patches on the shirt. Do it slowly and slightly to ensure that the ink won’t brim over the patches or make the letters fuzzy.

5. Wait a longer while for the ink to get dry. And then slightly remove the stencils one by one.

Here is your Greek lettered t-shirt!

Tips and warning:
1. You must process steps 4 and 5 really carefully.
First the stencils are the key to make a good t-shirt print.
Second, after you just cut them once, you could put them away and make an iterative use of them, which is why I mentioned you might be able to sell custom shirts. The brushing part is the final and most important step in the whole process. You can ruin your shirt if not doing properly or carefully.

2. After the ink completely dries out, press the shirt with an iron back and forth with a piece of fabric sandwiched in the middle. This is to help the ink get infiltrated into the fabric cells of the shirt.

3. It’s best to wash the lettered t-shirt in cold water. Don’t use wild washing with your washing machine and use gentle wash setting instead. Hand wash is strongly suggested.

If you find the whole DIY procedure is too complicated, which I have to admit yes, and for girls that love shiny style, you can choose a much easier way to get mysterious Greek letter designs for your shirts – to DIY or buy a rhinestone letter iron-ontransfer! As we shared in our older articles, you can give these bling fashions a try! Lively and sunny girls are crazy about them!

How to Fix a Peeling Iron-on Transfer

Iron-on transfer T-shirts have been more and more widely spread in tee fashion culture. Iron-on transfers become a common knowledge, which is also called hot-fix transfer, or heat transfer, especially for young tee shirt fans.

With the hot-fix transfers popularization, both the advantages and disadvantages are exposed. Advantages are easy to find, fast production, diverse graphic designs, easy application, and of course, cheap cost… But the disadvantage is obvious, too. One biggest problem is that it doesn’t last very long. After repeated wearing and washing, the glued hotfix images may start to peel off, especially from the edges.

Sellers expect the iron-on transfer designs to be sticky firmly. But the industry has not worked out the solution yet and the adhesive will get weaker and weaker over time.

This is really annoying problem that can ruin a genius design and even a fine t-shirt. However, it is not an inextricable problem. There is still a way to save your peeling hot-fix transfer. Of course, you’ll have to do it early. Don’t wait until the peeling is all over everywhere.

With fast and careful processing, it is even not difficult to achieve. Read ahead and try to get your t-shirt back to its glory!

Skill Level:
Easy

Preparation:
The t-shirt with peeling iron-on transfer
Iron
Ironing board
Iron sheet

Instructions:
1.
Set your iron to a high heat setting and pre-heat for minutes.

2.

Put your t-shirt on the ironing board and cover the peeling heat transfer image with a piece of iron sheet. Pay attention to the peeling area of the iron on transfer image.

3.
After the well pre-heat, iron over the ironing sheet very for 2 to 4 seconds carefully. Remember to only iron the peeling area of the image and use only the edge of the iron.

4.
Wait a second for the ironing sheet to cool down and check the transfer image under the sheet to see if it’s sticking back.

5.

If the hotfix transfer image is not sticky enough or it’s too large for the ironing sheet fully covering the whole, just repeat steps 1 to 4 and keep checking the transfer until it’s sticky to the shirt again.

Tips and warnings:
1.
Don’t iron the whole hotfix transfer image. The good area of the image could get melted with the heat of the iron, which may cause the peeling of the good area.

2.
Don’t lay the whole iron on the transfer. Use only the edge of the iron.

3.
Don’t iron the transfer for longer than a few seconds a time, because the high heat could harm the fabric of the shirt and the material of the heat transfer image.

4.
The above instruction is mainly for the heat transfer that is only a thin layer of sticky material. Many girls love wearing pretty shirts or dresses embellished with iron on rhinestone transfers. What can we do if the rhinestones drop? Well, it’s even easier.

The steps are almost the same as the above. When the stones come unglued, there will be a glue mark where it is supposed to be. Go and buy the same rhinestones as the dropping ones. Put them at the correct position, and apply them to the garments following the above instruction.

How to Make Your Own Iron-on Rhinestone Transfer for Your T-Shirt Design?

Iron-onrhinestone transfers are favored by modern girls and become more and more fashionable ever since Victoria's Secret Shows used them to make the whole event sparkling. Now when you want to buy some bling rhinestone or glitter decoration to your shirts, jackets, dresses and jeans, you can easily find them on the internet by searching key words such as “hot-fix rhinestone designs”, “iron-on rhinestone transfers”, “iron on rhinestone motif”, etc. You can find so many amazing, beautiful and creative designs, and can even custom your special ones online.

But there are girls who love DIY sewing and designing trainings, like Jenny in Gossip Girls. You may prefer creating your truly unique rhinestone transfer designs on your own. Then you can enjoy the devotion you put in when you wear them everywhere.

Therefore, let’s see how we can make our own iron-on rhinestone transfer.

Skill level:
Hard

Preparation:
The picture or photo you’d like to make into an iron-on transfer:
you can choose your own photos or other beautiful images you appreciate. You can choose whatever you like on the internet and print it out. But before printing, set your printer to the “reverse” or “mirror” settings. This is because first you need to print the reversed picture as a template to arrange the rhinestones, and then apply the rhinestoned design to your clothes which will be seen as backwards again by others.

it is a special kind of sticky paper, which has 2 layers. The clear layer is clear and sticky which can keep the rhinestones staying stilly as you design. The other layer is made of silicone that protects the rhinestones from moving. The silicone tapes are commonly white and some are yellow.

you can buy them online or at your local stores.

Tweezers:
to place rhinestones on the iron-on transfer paper.

An iron:
to apply the rhinestone transfer you have made to the clothes.

Clothes that you want to have the rhinestone transfer on:
for example a t-shirt, a dress, a jacket…
Tape:
to fix the picture and the iron-on transfer paper on the desk or flat surface.

Instructions

1
Tape your design to a flat work surface.
Print the picture that you choose. Remember to print it reversed. Then tape it to the desk or any other surface that is flat as you will arrange the rhinestones on this surface.

2
Cut a piece of iron-on transfer paper that is a 1 inch bigger for each side than the picture. Remove the white layer of the transfer paper off the clear layer but remain the sideline on it. Put the clear layer right on the design and tape the corners of it on the desk to keep it from moving.

3
Place the rhinestones face down along the lines of the design using tweezers, face down meaning that the top side of the rhinestones should be sticky to the clear transfer paper and the back side with glue on it should face you. The backs of the rhinestones should be facing up. Keep the rhinestones about 1/16 in. apart from each other.

4
Remove the tape from the corners of the transfer paper. Cover the white layer of the transfer paper you set aside earlier on the clear layer, so the rhinestones are sandwiched between the 2 layers of transfer paper.

5
Now turn the whole transfer with rhinestones over and you can see it is a superb iron-on rhinestone transfer that is made out from the picture that you tape on the desk. You can regulate rhinestones that are not placed correctly by slightly pushing them with your fingernail.

6
What you need do for the final step is to apply the iron-on transfer you have just made to your beloved clothes (t-shirt for instance). Place your t-shirt on the flat surface while pre-heat the iron at temperature of 350F Degree. Peel off the white layer of the rhinestone transfer and place the sticky layer with stones on the shirt, at the place you like. Press the iron on the sticky transfer paper for 10 to 15 seconds and move forth and back if the iron is too small to cover the whole transfer. Wait the transfer to cool for seconds and peel off the sticky paper.

Then here you are! A renewed DIY shirt that is shiny and unique!
